Cozy Winter Stay at a Historic Inn in Woodstock

The Jackson - A historic inn nestled in the picturesque town of Woodstock, Vermont; complete with beautiful views, cozy spaces, and a continental breakfast.

Location:

The historic inn, dating back to 1890, is conveniently located just minutes from the center of downtown Woodstock which is filled with shops, restaurants, and even a covered bridge. It is also located just a minute down the road from one of my absolute favorite shops in Woodstock, Farmhouse Pottery.

While the property is close to all the action, the inn is located in a residential area and you can enjoy some quiet and relaxation while on the property. The grounds feature a beautiful backyard with mountain views and lots of outdoor seating and fire pits for warmer months.

The Inn:

Checking-in

Guests are greeted with cookies in the lobby upon arrival. Check-in at the front desk or use the self-service check-in option.

Layout and features

You’ll find a mix of modern and historic details throughout the three floors of the inn. Guest rooms are located on the second and third floors and a couple on the first floor as well. On the first floor there are also multiple cozy seating rooms (including one with a gas fireplace) which makes it perfect for a cold winter day. You will also find a coffee room with small tables and chairs, a large modern Keurig coffee machine with lots of coffee options, as well as a fridge for guests to use.

The first floor also features a bar room which is not currently serving beverages but is open to guests to use. And one of my favorite rooms is the beautiful dining space featuring high ceilings and a gorgeous large gas fireplace in the center. This is also where guests will enjoy a breakfast (included in your stay).

I also loved the front porch on the inn, complete with rocking chairs. Even on a cold winter day, these were perfect for relaxing with a cup of coffee in the morning and enjoying the fresh air.

The Guest Rooms:

There are fifteen guest rooms in the inn and each one is uniquely decorated. Room offerings include both king and queen rooms. I stayed in two “Vista Queen” rooms which are located on the third-floor. My room was spacious and included a queen bed, small seating sofa, and a gas fireplace perfect for relaxing by on a cozy evening after a full day of outdoor adventures in Woodstock.

I also loved that the bathroom featured Argan bath products which smelled amazing and were more natural (great for even sensitive skin like mine).

And my absolute favorite feature of my Vista Queen room - a walk-out balcony which looks out to the back of the property and some beautiful mountain views.

Additionally, the inn has an environmentally conscious mindset with respect to the rooms. The inn provides guests with a checklist of services and items that can be restocked on a daily basis, including room service and fresh towels. Guests have the option to check off any items needed and hang the tag on the door each day. The “only as needed” service option helps to conserve water.

Breakfast:

You’ll start your day with a complimentary continental buffet breakfast in the beautiful open dining room. Breakfast may include a variety of sweet baked goods such as pumpkin or banana bread, homemade quiches, yogurt with fresh fruit, and hot coffee. Choose a seat by the large warm fireplace or a spot in front of the windows looking out at the snow covered gardens.
